Traditional French cooking is well known for its lavish use of butter, cream and eggs. But if you look beyond some of the popular high-fat dishes, you find that the French diet has many healthy aspects.

The French eat basically the same Mediterranean diet that is an example of sound nutrition. Meat is more of a garnish than the focus of the meal, and the French eat an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables each day.
