Article: Capitol Market ready to put on its fir coat, Christmas is big time for vendors at facility

WHILE area residents have been adjusting to the frosty mornings and making Thanksgiving plans, Capitol Market's outdoor vendors have been building booths and thinking green.

Christmas tree sales begin Saturday.

"Although we had a drought this year, it has been explained to me that the trees are expected to be beautiful," said Tammy Borstnar, the market's director.

Borstnar has high hopes as the market prepares for the holiday season.

"We're past our infancy," she said of the indoor-outdoor market, which opened in 1996 on Smith Street. "We're in our toddler stage. We're still learning and growing, and I think the public is still learning about us.
