Meanwhile, officers with laser guns are perched above the road,
clocking vehicles as they pass by.
Police said these clumps of cruisers scattered across
Charleston's highways and busy streets are not speed traps, but a
friendly reminder that people need to slow down.
And as a team, with some officers above the road and some on the
road, the police hope to crack down on speeding and tailgating
problems on Charleston's busiest roads.
Over the past few weeks, a handful of cruisers from the
Charleston Police Department have participated in an effort to slow
drivers on city streets and surrounding highways.
