The Zagat restaurant guide for Boston calls Legal Sea Foods "a
local legend that's gone national."
The fish house chain got its start about 50 years ago as a fish
market. Now Legal Sea Foods operates 20 restaurants (in
Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York State, Maryland, Washington
D.C. and Florida), two retail markets, and a mail-order division.
George Berkowitz originally put his fish market next to the Legal
Cash Market, his father's grocery store in Cambridge, Mass., so-
named because customers were given "Legal Cash" trading stamps with
their purchases.

current policy of choosing and selling only the "top of the catch," ...
