Article: Iraqi Parliament OKs security pact with U.S.

BAGHDAD - The Iraqi Parliament approved a security pact that requires all U.S. troops to be out in three years.

The vote for the security deal followed months of difficult talks between U.S. and Iraqi negotiators.

U.S. military officials believe the Iraqi police and military forces they've been training are better able to fend for themselves now, and the terms of the security pact reflect that confidence: U.S. forces will withdraw from Iraqi towns and cities by June 30 and the entire country by Jan. 1, 2012.
