I wait all year for this. It's the beginning of sweet onion
season.
Living in the South used to mean that Vidalias were the only
sweet onions available. You could find them only during a few months
in late spring and early summer. All year long I'd gather onion
recipes, just waiting for the season. For about two months, sweet
onions would appear in nearly everything I cooked: breads, pizzas,
sauces, soups, salads and sides. Now I can stretch my sweet onion
consumption through the summer with Texas 1015 Super Sweets
(available June through August), Maui Sweets (available year-round,
but with limited mainland distribution) and Washington State's Walla
Walla Sweets (June through August). ...
