The chairman of the company that owns the Charleston Daily Mail says he has been approached by a group of businessmen interested in buying the newspaper, but William Dean Singleton says he has no interest in selling.

"We have no plans to sell the Daily Mail," said Singleton, the chairman of Colorado-based MediaNews.

Singleton acknowledged today that he has received an offer from businessman Bray Cary, a West Virginia native who has been involved in several successful sports marketing ventures that include putting together the current $2.4 billion television contract for NASCAR.

The two men discussed the offer over lunch about a month ago in Denver, Singleton said.
