Houses line the main drag that runs through Loudendale, a
community far removed from the hustle and bustle of downtown
Charleston and hidden under a thick canopy of trees
On a recent day there, a few neighbors stood outside and chatted.
Dogs panted under the shade of a nearby tree. A lawnmower buzzed
along the side of the road.
But for all its peaceful attributes, Loudendale, with a few
hundred residents tucked between South Hills and Kanawha State
Forest, has been swirled in controversy of late.
The state Division of Highways recently raised the speed limit on
Kanawha Forest Drive, which runs through the center of Loudendale,
