Houses line the main drag that runs through Loudendale, a community far removed from the hustle and bustle of downtown Charleston and hidden under a thick canopy of trees

On a recent day there, a few neighbors stood outside and chatted. Dogs panted under the shade of a nearby tree. A lawnmower buzzed along the side of the road.

But for all its peaceful attributes, Loudendale, with a few hundred residents tucked between South Hills and Kanawha State Forest, has been swirled in controversy of late.
