The relationship between some city officials and new Alley Cats owner Tom Dickson seem to be improving after Dickson said he will invest $80,000 in Watt Powell Park.

Dickson made the commitment Monday even though the Alley Cats will be leaving the facility after two years.

Appearing before City Council's Parks and Recreation Committee, Dickson again said he is optimistic about keeping the team in Charleston and getting a new stadium for minor league baseball in the area by 2003.

He also asked City Council's Parks and Recreation Committee to approve indirectly city-funded repairs to the old stadium.
