Most education grads don't get state jobs
Only 20 percent of students who graduated from West Virginia
colleges last year with an education degree got jobs in state public
schools, according to a state Department of Education report.
Four out of every five education majors didn't make the grade in
public schools because half of them specialized in elementary
education, an area with few job openings last year.
Only 14 of 100 West Virginia University graduates, 26 of 166
Marshall University graduates and 13 of 50 state college graduates
landed teaching jobs in the state.
