Article: Watt Powell 'borderline slum': ; Renovations needed despite plans to move

Tim Bordner, general manager of the Alley Cats, was sitting in his ballpark office one day when he got a sign from above that Watt Powell Park is in desperate need of renovations.

A pigeon fell through the decaying ceiling tile.

"It's difficult to run a company under those conditions," said Bordner, who can now laugh about the incident that almost gave him a heart attack at the time. "It's embarrassing to bring people into the place."

Watt Powell Park soon will benefit from more than a quarter of a million dollars in renovations.
