WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Dealing with distractions is part of
Winston Cup racing. Minor stories and rumors fly almost as fast and
as often as the cars do.
So when a major story or rumor hits, and especially during the
usually slow offseason, it's a big deal.
John Andretti has been hit with a double whammy this offseason.
First, the driver of the No. 43 STP (switching to Cheerios in
July) Pontiac is having to deal with the loss of longtime Petty
Enterprises crew chief Robbie Loomis, who joined Jeff Gordon's team
last month.
"How do you get hit by a baseball bat and ... well, I didn't have
a clue," Andretti said, trying to explain his reaction to Loomis'
