DAILY MAIL STAFF
IT'S a tough lot. Try hard to imagine it: Being 11, 12 or 13
years old. Standing in front of your parents, teachers and peers,
bright lights shining in your eyes, television cameras pointed at
you, and words like "tropism" being cast your way by people you
don't know who speak into microphones. And then that buzzer. Ugh.
The buzzer.
You might as well be stung. You know, S-T-U-N-G. As in by a bee.
Like the annual Daily Mail Regional Spelling Bee planned this
Saturday.
Of the 32 students from 16 counties scheduled to disturb the
butterflies in their parents' bellies this weekend as they put their
spelling prowess to the test at the West Virginia State College
Capitol Center ...
