The starting pitching rotation of the Charleston Alley Cats would
make for a formidable offensive line. The Class A club of the
Kansas City Royals opens its South Atlantic League season Thursday
at Columbus, Ga., featuring a rotation that includes: 6-foot-3, 200-
pound right-hander Ryan Douglass; 6-5, 220-pound right-hander Ryan
Baerlocher; 6-2, 220-pound righty Rafael Rinconnes; 6-3, 175-pound
left-hander Jimmy Gobble; and 6-2, 215-pound lefty Kyle Turner.
And not only are they big, they're strong. Pitch counts early in
the season will not be as strict with this crew, said Alley Cat
Manager Joe Szekely.
"All of our starters can throw 80 to 85 pitches," Szekely said.
