Got milk? I would have a cow if I didn't

I reckon I'm part calf. The liquid of my life is milk.

And milk - except for one brief period - has been pleasantly plentiful in my life to my great satisfaction throughout the years. As far back as I can remember, we had a cow. And milk a-plenty. A milking cow was called a fresh cow. A cow without milk was called a dry cow.

While we had cows in my early youth, I didn't milk them until I was maybe 8 years old. I envied my older brother who had the milking job, until he taught me to milk! Then I milked for 10 or 12 years - as long as we had a cow. We had so much milk that we sold it when we could, and when we couldn't sell it, we gave it to the pig.
