SWEET potato casserole is one of those dishes which sounds great but which usually disappoints because it is too sweet, more like a sweet potato pie than a savory side dish. Although I am fond of mashed sweet potatoes, a sweet potato casserole usually uses slices and since sweet potatoes are softer and stickier than regular potatoes, this creates problems.
