THE little girl is just 5, but her maternal instincts already are
showing. She realizes her 3-year-old brother needs help and
attention, so she lavishes it on him. Her brother can't talk, see,
walk or feed himself. He can't control his drooling and doesn't know
how to use the toilet. He spends most of his time lying flat on a
small couch in the family's living room.
But workers at his preschool are evaluating possibilities for the
boy. They are setting up a special program to stimulate his senses
and help him develop.
Fortunately, the boy has a loving sister and parents.
His mother, just 20, stays at home to care for the children, a
