COLIN Montgomerie has been installed as favourite to win the US
PGA Championship which starts at the Medinah No 3 course, in the
western suburbs of Chicago, on Thursday.
Not by the British bookmakers, though, who as usual send Tiger
Woods off in front closely followed by David Duval.
Monty's vote of confidence comes from the hugely respected
American magazine, Golf Digest. In setting up their own 'book' for
Medinah, they offer odds of 10/1 against the Scot, ahead of three
second favourites at 12/1, Woods, Duval and Davis Love III, the 1997
winner.
"Colin Montgomerie will win this year's PGA," predicts the
