Hickory Crawdads manager Pete Mackanin was more than a little
pleased to pick up a 3-2 win over the Charleston Alley Cats at Watt
Powell Park Saturday night.
"That was a well-played game here tonight," said Mackanin. "And
don't think I wasn't thinking about the last time we played here,
when we were up 8-0 and Charleston scored nine runs in the ninth to
win the game."
The Crawdads (14-8) scored a run in the second inning, then
maintained the lead throughout the game. Charleston threatened to
tie and even go ahead in three different innings.
"We had our chances," said Cats manager Rolando Pino, "but
couldn't get the big clutch hit today."
