WORK will start next month on two new control rooms for police in
North Yorkshire.
The county's police authority yesterday awarded the contract for
the 2m project to Thomas Weatherald Ltd, of Askrigg, in the
Yorkshire
Dales.
And it is hoped the facilities, at Newby Wiske, near
Northallerton, and Fulford, York, will be completed by the end of
the
year.
The new control rooms will bring the latest technology to the
handling of emergency calls and will also support a revolutionary
radio system.
