TRANSPORT group Arriva is to buy two Dutch bus groups for 47m as
part of its continued expansion into Europe.
The moves mark Arriva's biggest overseas acquisition to date,
which, along with its existing operations in the Netherlands, gives
it more than 20 per cent of the total Dutch bus market.
The two companies being bought by the Sunderland-based group are
Veonn and Hanze. They are being bought from the Dutch state-owned
VSN group.
Veonn and Hanze have 3,500 staff between them and operate 750
buses, 700 minibuses, taxis and ambulances in 30 towns, mostly in
the
North of Holland.
