Article: Ewan McGregor leads tributes to Oor Wullie at 65

HE'S a national icon, a children's hero, the character Ewan McGregor would most like to portray on film. His image is even used as currency in Africa ... and now Oor Wullie is a pensioner.

At 65, the Sunday Post's dungaree-wearing hero is finally entitled to a free bus pass. But unlike millions of former schoolboy fans, Wullie hasn't aged.

He is still a ragamuffin with spiky yellow hair and a rusty bucket, running circles around his Maw and PC Murdoch with his pals Fat Bob and Wee Eck.

To celebrate Wullie's enduring charm and the genius of his creator Dudley Dexter Watkins, BBC Radio Scotland has recorded a special tribute to Scotland's most mischievious pensioner.
