Scotland's top allergy expert claims patients suffering from
hayfever, asthma and skin and eye allergies are getting a raw deal
and admits that, at the moment, he is offering a "Mickey Mouse"
service.
Professor Brian Lipworth, of Ninewells Hospital in Dundee,
Scotland's only professor of allergy, warned that the lack of
resources and trained staff means that the one in five Scots who now
suffer from some form of allergy may miss out on life-enhancing
treatment.
Professor Lipworth is to make a bid to the Scottish Executive to
set up the country's first national allergy centre, which he
believes could rid allergy sufferers of symptoms that make their
