Jack Burgess will miss coaching girls basketball, but he won't
miss the late winter nights or the long hours away from his family.
"I haven't had a lot of time with them," said Burgess, a coach in
the Lafayette girls program the last 16 years. "The season is long
and I haven't been able to do the things with my family that I
wanted."
Burgess resigned Friday after eights seasons as head coach. The
Fighting Irish were 75-103 during his tenure and 14-10 last season,
losing to Maryville in the first round of the Missouri Class 3A,
District 16 tournament.
He won't completely disappear. Burgess will continue as boys
tennis coach - a job he assumed this year - and will also maintain
his position ...
