Real estate sales in St. Joseph dropped 25 percent in July from
the previous July and, so far this year, are down 7 percent from the
same period in 2000.
St. Joseph real estate agents sold $12 million in July, compared
to $16 million in July 2000, which set a record for one-month real
estate sales.
So far this year, agents have sold $75 million in property, down
from $80 million.
"It seems like it is a little slower," said RE/MAX agent
Christine O'Rourke. "I attribute a lot of it to the terrible, cold
winter and how we are having a very hot summer. I think people just
don't want to get out and look at houses."
