Tina May/One Fine Day (33 Records 33JAZZ 050) ONE of the finest
jazz singers (and critics' choice in this year's British Jazz
Awards), Tina May continues to produce some stunning albums. Her
singing on this disc is faultless whether on the bright, up-tempo
Bop People or the wistful of Spring Is Here. She is beautifully
supported by one of our most delightful pianists, Nikki Iles, and by
the virtuosic Alan Barnes who adds new depth to his playing. Simply
flawless.
It's also worth reminding you of Tina's previous album, Jazz
Piquant (33JAZZ 042). With Brian Dee and Tony Coe, among others, she
demonstrates her flawless, crystal clear French on half a dozen
songs. Trs bien.
