ORGANISERS of events in Teesdale have had some Christmas cheer with an award of thousands of pounds to help stage their activities next year.

Teesdale Marketing has awarded a total of 7,500 in events support grants to ten organisations.

There will be more cash to follow in a second round of funding, due early next year.

The initial funding announcement was made by Bill Oldfield, chairman of Teesdale Marketing and award-winning restaurateur.

The initiative, timed to coincide with the festive season, is designed to support the recovery of the local economy and help to re- establish community spirit.

Funding for the grant programme has been provided by One NorthEast, the County Durham ...
