YOU'VE seen the film, now watch the TV series. As the name suggests Channel 4's big new drama Lock, Stock is a spinoff from one of the most original and successful British movies in recent years Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels.

This isn't the first - and certainly won't be the last - big to small screen transfer.

In the 1970s and 1980s it worked the other way round with hit TV series being turned into money-spinning films. Practically every comedy, from On The Buses to That's Your Funeral, made the move. They came with a built-in audience, were cheap to make and quick to get into cinemas to capitalise on a series' popularity.
