Article: Early voters will use paper ballots

TROY -- Miami County voters will be given paper ballots when they show up at the Board of Elections for early voting starting Tuesday, Sept. 30.

Elections board members agreed Sept. 17, with a recommendation by elections director Steve Quillen, to use the paper ballots instead of some of the county's more than 350 electronic voting machines.

The machines will be in use on Election Day on Nov. 4.

Quillen said the recommendation to go with paper instead of electronic ballots was based on two considerations: security and a more readily accessible paper trail if an audit of any precinct or precincts is needed.
