Last week, Sir Richard Greenbury quit as non-executive chairman of Marks & Spencer, leaving a larger-than-life gap at the ailing stores group. Greenbury, who earned himself a reputation as an overbearing leader, left the company a year ahead of schedule and a month before its annual meeting.
