Article: City: West End office rents `surging'

OFFICE rents in London's West End are rising as fast as they did in the 1980s property boom, thanks to surging demand from expanding companies, according to an authoritative survey to be published this week.

The latest figures from Richard Ellis, the leading property consultant, reveal that its rental index is 13 per cent higher than 12 months ago, the largest year-on-year increase since 1989 when the index reached 14.8 per cent.
