IT IS amazing what an old-fashioned rollicking can do. Four
weeks ago, on the eve of the British Grand Prix, Damon Hill awoke
to a set of nightmare headlines after his Arrows Yamaha team chief
Tom Walkinshaw had questioned his performances and his commitment.
Some even suggested he had been threatened with the sack.
Yesterday, on an afternoon of shimmering heat and humidity in
Hungary, it was a completely different story. Hill, who finished
sixth to score a point at Silverstone and then came home eighth at
Hockenheim, qualified third for this afternoon's Hungarian Grand
Prix. He was just three-tenths of a second slower than Michael
