AS USUAL the room was in absolute chaos, bats, shirts and kit
everywhere. A couple of camera crews flitted about looking for an
interview.
It was a room full of excitement, full of expectation. Players
were dashing around doing their best to sign everything and keep
everyone happy. Naturally you could not keep the smiles off the
faces of Chris Silverwood and Robert Croft. In four hours they
would be leaving on their first full England tour. What a feeling.
Eventually, after everything had been signed and the last player
had left, the room returned to normal.
As I looked round I caught Devon Malcolm's eye and knew
immediately that both of us were thinking the same things. Neither
of us really ...
