ULSTER'S fire-fighters were today in line for the Assembly's
first civic award of honour - in recognition of their sacrifice
during the Troubles.
An illuminated scroll was being presented to the Northern Ireland
Fire Service at a ceremony in Parliament Buildings, Stormont.
The award is in recognition and in honour of the sacrifice of
members of the Fire Service in the province over the years.
The Assembly unanimously agreed to make the award last November.
Assembly Speaker Lord Alderdice, who was presenting the scroll on
behalf of the Assembly, said: "This is the first award of its kind.
