THE Irish - both north and south - are living off the fat of the
land and it shows.
Our burger-loving, pizza-guzzling habits are turning us into the
fastest growing heavyweights in Europe.
A new study by University College Cork nutritionist, Nora
O'Brien, has revealed an alarming expansion in the number of
overweight and obese people throughout Ireland.
The Ireland Food Consumption Survey revealed that 33% of all
adult females and 46% of all adult males are overweight.
But even more worrying is the fact that the number of people
suffering from obesity more than 10% above their desirable body
weight has soared over the past decade.
