AN unremarkable house on Larne's Station Road has been the focus
of a detailed investigation by Parliamentary Standards Commissioner
Elizabeth Filkin.
The watchdog found that MP Roy Beggs had over-claimed
Parliamentary rent allowance for the premises - his constituency
office - and had "increased his family's income at public expense".
As a result of the probe, the MP paid back a total of 2,454.
Mrs Filkin's investigation was launched in response to complaints
from Larne councillor Robert Lindsay Mason, a long-time critic of Mr
Beggs.
