The most beautiful hamam, or Turkish bath, in Istanbul has to be
the one in the Ciragan Palace Hotel Kempinski - the palace of the
last Ottoman sultan - consisting of two white-marble rooms,
intricately carved and with windows overlooking the Bosphorus.
How wonderful it must have been to be showered, massaged and
pampered here. Today, however, the hamam is used for parties and
receptions while guests in search of a Turkish bath have to cross to
the new part of the hotel and use the one attached to the health
club.
Here, a steam and body scrub is yours for about pounds 18 and a
30-minute massage is another pounds 18. Both treatments are ideal
for the busy traveller or for the hamam virgin. ...
