Farmers often talk about the government's involvement in their
business, not always favorably. The topic will come up at social
gatherings, in the coffee shop, on the farm. But it seldom gets
beyond the discussion phase.
Once per year, farmers in Iowa have an opportunity to get some
momentum behind their feelings on issues that affect them every day.
The Dubuque County Farm Bureau recently completed its annual
survey of membership to gauge members' sentiment on various issues.
Majority opinions were formulated into the local group's official
policy stance during the annual county meeting in September.
