Already housed under one roof, the Dubuque YMCA and YWCA now
share a name, an executive director and a single staff.
The two local organizations have consolidated operations, with
the combination known as the Dubuque Community Y.
"We're excited about it," said Margaret Kolck, executive director
of the newly consolidated entity.
Kolck has been executive director of the YWCA for nine years.
When YMCA director Bruce Wands retired, officials began to
consider consolidation rather than hiring a replacement.
"It was a great opportunity for both boards to come together,"
said Mike Fuhs, the former YMCA board president who serves as
