Hospital bosses in Glasgow have been playing politics with
patients' lives.
Despite denials last week that they do not interfere in clinical
decisions, the Evening Times can today reveal the full contents of a
letter which clearly states that doctors could be overruled if
waiting list guarantees cannot be met.
The letter, from Maggie Boyle, the Chief Executive of the North
Glasgow University Hospitals NHS Trust, states: "I am aware that
some of your consultants may still believe they can exercise a
degree of choice as to whether they have to meet these guidelines."
And it adds:
"The message I wish you to convey is remarkably simple and very
clear.
"We will take whatever action is ...
