A SALES assistant whose job was axed weeks after she discovered
she was pregnant has won her unfair dismissal claim and (pounds)
2071 compensation.
But a Glasgow employment tribunal rejected her sex discrimination
complaint and claim she lost her job because she was pregnant.
Pamela Maguire, 20, of Creran Court, Little Earnock, Hamilton,
discovered she was pregnant around the time the Scottish Midland Co-
operative Society Ltd management in Edinburgh, which had taken over
the Hamilton branch of Semi-Chem, were deciding who should be made
redundant.
But they told the tribunal they had already decided she should go
be-fore they knew about her condition.
All staff had been given a pay rise ...
