Article: Democrats rising up in Holmes County

MILLERSBURG -- In selecting a shade of red to represent the strength of the Republican Party in Holmes County, it will likely include the adjective "deep."

Holmes County hasn't elected a Democrat in quite some time. According to the oldest breakdown of precinct data available from the Ohio Secretary of State's office, Holmes County has voted Republican in an overwhelming majority since the Reagan years. But with this year's election, Democrats say they are energized and looking for a way to put a chink in this GOP stronghold.
