Stuart Line Cruises has been given the go-ahead to move its
headquarters to the gardens facing Mamhead slipway, despite
objection from residents.
Exmouth planners approved the application to temporarily switch
its booking office based in the portable building in Mamhead View.
There were 12 letters of opposition and one of the main concerns
was that the gardens should not be used commercially and that the
scheme might open the floodgates for more development.
Others said it could ruin the green where activities and sports
take place and add to congestion there and that the gardens had the
only seating area for elderly people in that area.
