All pupils at a Derby school should eventually be able to
communicate with deaf people through sign language.
Teaching assistant Tracey Oxley is busy teaching British Sign
Language to infant children at St Werburgh's C of E Primary School.
She started last year after she realised that there were two deaf
parents with children at the school.
Mrs Oxley said: "I have been learning British Sign Language and
thought it would be good to do basic words with the children in
enrichment sessions.
"I started this last year and those pupils have progressed into
the junior section of the school.
"The infant children are also learning sign language so, if we
keep going, then pupils throughout the school ...
