Princess Anne paid a visit to Gloucester Cathedral yesterday to
rededicate the tomb of King Edward II.
The tomb, which is one of the finest monuments in England, and is
the first known tomb to be made from English alabaster, has been
extensively restored.
The project took several months and cost more than pounds100,000.
The Princess Royal was given the task of unveiling the monument.
Dressed in an emerald green coat, black boots and black gloves,
she was met at the cathedral door by the Lord Lieutenant of
Gloucestershire, Henry Elwes.
