Artisan cheesemakers from around Cornwall will compete for prizes
on Thursday in the first Cornwall Cheese Show, a new competition
aimed at raising the profile of locally produced cheeses.
The show will be part of the Great Tasting Event, which takes
place at the Taste Cornwall Shop in Liskeard on Friday and Saturday,
October 10 and 11. This is also a first, and organisers say they
came up with the idea to encourage people to taste local foods.
"I was worried that the cheeses would be overlooked by all the
other great things we have in the shop, hence the competition" said
the aptly-named Joy Cheeseman, chairman of the Cornish Guild of
Smallholders, which is organising the event.
