Exeter Road is really two roads in one: to traffic heading into
Exmouth from out of town, it remains the main highway.
But to locals and those prepared to venture just off the tourist
track, the inner portion of Exeter Road is a half-mile parade of
independent traders and facilities of the kind that form the
backbone of a successful local community.
And if there is one aspect of both halves that everybody we spoke
to remarked upon, it's the friendliness of the natives.
One long-standing local landmark is Lakes greengrocers, owned by
Pam and Neil Blake for the past 10 years.
"Exeter Road has stayed more or less the same, apart from the
businesses changing," said Neil.
"The council did widen ...
