A young sailor from West Cornwall has netted the prize as top
recruit during his basic Royal Navy training at HMS Raleigh in
Cornwall.
Trainee Seaman Specialist Lee Sciascia, 20, joined the Royal Navy
in June and has already shone in the service.
He was presented with the Owen Cup at the passing out parade as
the recruit who achieved the best overall marks during training.
The former pupil of the Redruth School, who previously worked as
an apprentice road worker, said joining the Navy was a dream come
true and he hoped to be selected for officer training in the future.
