When many of us struggle to get out of bed in the morning, or
feel that concerns about anything from the economy to whether we
left the gas on are keeping us awake at night, a film about people
who fall asleep at the drop of a hat feels like a sick joke.
But the jauntily-titled Ninety Naps a Day revealed the
distressing, disturbing and unwelcome effects of narcolepsy. Around
one in every 2,000 people are affected by this neurological disorder
which causes excessive and uncontrollable daytime sleeping.
One minute 23-year-old student Samantha is describing her worries
about never being able to get a job, the next she is fast asleep.
For her, and sufferers like her, it's a waking - and sleeping ...
