Madison -- On Sept. 14, the University of Wisconsin was 3-0 and
ranked No. 8 in both national polls.
The Badgers were preparing for a bye week after grinding out a 13-
10 victory at Fresno State, a victory that probably conjured
memories of workmanlike but necessary road triumphs during two of
UW's three Rose Bowl seasons under Barry Alvarez.
After three consecutive Big Ten losses, UW (3-3, 0-3) is out of
both national polls and a bowl berth is anything but a lock.
However, don't suggest to coach Bret Bielema that several of UW's
preseason goals, determined by the players, are already out of
reach.
